EASTER TRADITION CONTINUES AT BORDERLINE SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY

The final sprintcar show of the season at Borderline Speedway takes place this Easter Saturday Night with the running of Round 2 of the Easter Sprintcar Trail proudly presented by Geelong Harley Davidson. This tradition is now in its 39th Year and boasts the second biggest car count behind the Australian Titles which were held back in January. A staggering 55 nominations have been received which proves the 'traditional' Easter Trail continues to be popular and with over $120,000 in prizemoney plus a Street Rod 750 valued at $14,000 to the overall winner of the Series that takes in Round 1 on Good Friday at Avalon and the Final at Premier Speedway, Warrnambool on Easter Sunday.

 

Defending Easter Trail overall champion Darren Mollenoyux will have plenty of competition this weekend that includes current WSS champion James McFadden, Classic champion Corey McCullagh, former WSS and Classic Champion Jamie Veal, Current SRA Champion young gun Rusty Hickman, former Easter Trail champions Daniel Pestka, Grant Anderson, while several drivers are back after WSS duties they include local hero Glen Sutherland, Brad Keller, Jye O'Keeffe, David Murcott & Western Australia's Jason Pryde who will make the trek East.

 

One driver who will rate his chances very strongly is current Australia #3 Matt Egel in the Downing Bros #97 machine who impressed many with his great run at Borderline in January.

 

Another driver to watch is Kiwi Stephen Taylor who is piloting the #74 Natrad Machine for Trevor Green and impressed many in his first run at Murray Bridge a few weeks ago. 

 

The travelling Dumesny clan have also entered this weekend with Matt & Marcus both nominated in their respective machines and both having impressive seasons particularly Matt who is the current NSW champion. 

 

Shaun Dobson will also rate his chances in the #3 machine for Dickson Motorsports and will also be looking to add another Easter Trail A Main win to the list after taking out the Easter Feature at Avalon last season.

 

Young Tasmanian young gun Jock Goodyer has also make the trek across the mainland and will also be in action on Saturday.

 

The local SA contingent will be made up of Daniel Evans, Rory Button, rookie Adrian Cottrell, Ryan Jones, Jake Tranter & Brett Sullivan in the #28.

 

SRA regulars Grant Standsfield, Jordyn Charge, Jake Smith, Luke Walker, Peter Doukas, Terry Rankin, Tim Hutchins, Dennis Jones, Brayden Parr are also in the mega field for Saturday that also includes a group of fast lady racers in the form of Kristy Ellis, Lisa Walker, Rhiannon Burleigh, Stacey Galliford & Georgia McLeod.

 

Picking a winner will be no easy task in what shapes up to be a fantastic nights racing.

 

The popular Super Rods will also be in action and they are also contesting their own Easter Trail for the first time. Also supporting the night is the VSC Standard Saloons.

 

Free Easter Eggs for the kids and a massive fireworks display from the team at Profire Pyrotechnics
