IT’S A DOUBLE DOSE OF SPEEDWEEK ACTION AT BORDERLINE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT

Story By Finish Line Media - Australia

It’s the holiday season and just before New Year so that can only mean one thing … World Series Sprintcars Speedweek roars into Borderline Speedway this Friday night December 28. At the time of going to print just under 40 cars had nominated but the field is full of quality and is led by current National champ Kerry Madsen who is now piloting the Krikke Motorsports #2. Defending WSS champion James McFadden aboard the Monte Motorsports machine is back along with fellow WSS contracted teams Rusty Hickman & Jye O’Keeffe who sadly were both injured in their last visit to Borderline and won’t be wanting a repeat of that. Hometown hero Glen Sutherland is also back on the WSS trail this season as is Queensland’s Lachie McHugh, Darwin’s Danny Porter, WA’s Jason Pryde and Mitchell Wormall return with the latter having a stint over in the States and will have learned plenty. Jack Lee has been in impressive form of late and will be hoping that continues into his second WSS campaign. The Series got underway on Boxing Night at Murray Bridge.

The high-quality entry also includes for WSS champ Jamie Veal, current two-time Vic champion David Murcott, current Classic champion Corey McCullagh, Americas Cory Eliason who is racing for the Diamond Bay Motorsport team out of WA, hometown king Steven Lines who was victorious in the SRA round a month ago and will challenge for overall honours. The SA contingent is out in force with Brock Hallett, Brad Keller, Daniel Pestka, Luke Dillon, Keke Falland, Rory Button, Being Speedweek a few drivers will be making their debut on the Borderline layout namely two young guns from Queensland in the form of Randy Morgan and Jayden Peacock with the latter already having tasted success up at Toowoomba earlier in the season. Also, in the field are several Victorians who frequent the Mt Gambier circuit a lot they being Dennis Jones, Jake Smith & Jordyn Charge. Tasmania is represented by Jock Goodyer and Tim Hutchins with both set to compete in next months Aussie Title in Queensland.

Its very hard to pick a winner out of that group of drivers and the quality on hand is first class.

Also, on the program is Round 2 of the Formula 500 Speedweek Series with a staggering 48 nominations received for this round at Mt Gambier. Several cars have travelled many miles to contest the Series this season with cars coming from Queensland, Tasmania, Western Australia to add already to the impressive numbers from Victoria and SA plus two hotshot Americans in the form of Jake Andreotti, and Koen Shaw.

Newly crowned Victorian champion Jack Bell leads the charge with a stack of Victorians that includes Chris & Dion Bellman, Josh & Brooke Buckingham, Ash & Dale Sinclair, Dylan Willsher, Tim & Leigh Van Ginneken, Andrew & Jordy Rae are just some of the cars nominated to run.

Queensland will be represented by State champ Kaydon Iverson, youngster Brodie Davis, Jared Desmares while Lexi and Tessa Underwood are a welcome addition to the Speedweek Tour once again this summer.

It’s great to see several cars make the journey across the Nullarbor from WA & Tasmania with all drivers looking to mix it with the high-quality fields that Speedweek Possesses. Thomas Davies and Ryan Higgs hail from WA while Taylor Johnson, Jason Richards & Ricki Hall have made their way across Bass Trait and will represent the Apple Isle.

The local charge will be led by Patrick Merrett while Angelo Karoussis will still be on a high after taking out the King of the Bridge recently at Murray Bridge, Dean Cottrell, Stephanie Munn, Austin

McDonald, & Mitchell Broome make up the local entry with the latter having a run in the Mathew Weyers #93 machine.

It all points to a very entertaining evening at Borderline Speedway come Friday night.
